Tipton Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program is designed to improve the physical, mental, and emotional status of those who have experienced a cardiac event, such as open heart surgery, heart attack, angioplasty, coronary stents, and cardiovascular disease.
The Three Phases
There are three phases of cardiac rehabilitation:
- Phase I (inpatient) emphasizes education and early ambulation.
- Phase II (outpatient) is telemetry monitored program that begins after the patient is dismissed from the hospital. This also focuses on gradually increased exercise and education.
- Phase III (outpatient) is a maintenance program with emphasis on lifetime exercise.
Costs
Inpatient and outpatient (phase II) cardiac rehabilitation is covered by most insurance plans and requires a physician’s referral. Phase III costs $5.00 per visit.
