Tipton Hospital incorporates the latest Patient Room Concept in our ICU rooms. This continues our tradition of providing all private rooms. What is so important about private rooms? Evidence strongly suggests all private rooms contribute significantly to low infection rates and greatly enhance patient privacy.
The philosophy behind the new patient room is the belief that the patient environment can aid in the healing process. Studies have been conducted on how the usage of lighting, sound, color, pattern, and textures affect the healing process -- we used all of this information in the design process.
The patient room incorporates three distinct areas - the Staff Zone, the Patient Zone, and the Family Zone.
The Staff Zone is equipped with the storage and supplies needed to allow our medical staff to quickly respond to patients and provide immediate care.
The concept behind the Patient Zone is independence and a feeling of home. Shelving units are designed to hold the patient's personal items. Paint colors are soothing and promote the healing process. In addition, much attention is given to decorative moldings, artwork, patient-controlled lighting, and temperature.
It's about making our hospital a better place for patients. We offer everything needed for high-tech care and infection prevention in an environment that's comfortable and soothing for patients and their families.
In the Family Zone of the new patient room, a visiting friend or family member can stay with the patient as long as needed. Instead of sleeping on a rollout cot and having few accommodations, family and friends are provided with a sleeper sofa, desk, dresser, and telephone -- all within the patient's room.
