Tipton Hospital has invested in the technology and training needed to provide our patients with the highest level of care in inpatient and outpatient surgery services. Surgical services are provided by a team of nurses and doctors with years of experience in practice. Our surgical services team will make every effort to ensure the patient's stay is comfortable and pleasant, whether it be for a few hours or a few days.

Prior to Surgery
The day before surgery, you may receive a phone call from a nurse regarding your medical history. This is a good time to ask any questions you may have concerning your procedure. You may also receive a call asking for information about your insurance coverage. If you do not receive a call, please bring insurance information with you on the day of surgery.

You may be required to have pre-operative testing. Your surgeon will provide you information about where and when you should complete necessary tests. Tipton Hospital is available to provide testing either on or in advance of your surgery date.

If you develop a cold of flu symptoms prior to your surgery, contact your physician or call Tipton Hospital Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at (765) 675-8570.

Day of Surgery
On the day of your surgery, go directly to Outpatient Surgery in the south lobby of the hospital. Please arrive two hours prior to your scheduled surgery time, unless instructed otherwise by your physician or surgery staff.

Do not eat or drink anything after midnight on the day of your surgery, unless directed by your surgeon. If you take medications regularly, you may be asked to bring them with you to the hospital.

Please leave jewelry and valuables at home. We request that you do not wear make-up, contact lenses, nail polish, or artificial fingernails on the day of surgery.

You will be more comfortable if you wear casual, loose-fitting clothing. We will provide you with a gown and robe during your stay with us.

Family members and friends are permitted to remain with you until just prior to the start of the surgical procedure. After surgery and recovery are completed, you will return to your original patient care area. A member of your family will be encouraged to remain with you in this area until you are ready to go home.
